Studio Iv: residential
The Bachman Residence Renovation
Studio IV | Belmont University
This residential renovation project focuses on transforming the first floor of a historic bungalow into a vibrant, open-concept kitchen and dining space that reflects the homeowner’s lifestyle and personal passions. Designed for Lydia, a retiree who enjoys hosting and cooking, the space is tailored to support both social gatherings and daily routines, with thoughtful integration of her two beloved dogs.
The design concept emphasizes warmth, comfort, and livability. An open layout enhances circulation and sightlines, while increased natural lighting and strategically placed fixtures create a bright, welcoming atmosphere. The palette blends timeless finishes with bold pops of color, bringing personality and charm to the space without overwhelming its classic architectural character.
Custom features—such as built-in pet stations, multifunctional seating, and generous storage—highlight the project’s focus on everyday functionality. Collaboration with Fisher & Paykel informed the integration of high-performance appliances, blending modern convenience with cohesive style.
This project showcases a human-centered approach to residential design, balancing aesthetics, practicality, and personal expression in a space that celebrates both home and hospitality.

The Lee Residence
Studio IV | Belmont University | Spring 2025
The Lee Residence project explores how personal expression, functionality, and design cohesion can be brought together in a family home renovation. This interior design project aimed to balance the individual styles and preferences of a multigenerational household, creating a vibrant, welcoming environment that feels curated yet livable.
Drawing from both traditional and contemporary design languages, the project incorporates bold contrasts in color, patterned tile, and a mix of textures to reflect the personalities of each family member. The design focuses on key areas—including the foyer, living room, kitchen, primary suite, and daughter’s bedroom—each styled with unexpected moments of color and material interplay to enhance both character and comfort.
Functionality was paramount throughout the planning process. Open circulation paths, thoughtful spatial zoning, and a comprehensive furniture plan support family interaction and privacy alike. Detailed interior elevations and construction documents were developed to guide implementation across two levels of the home.
The final design merges creativity with practicality, offering a space that adapts to the dynamic needs of its residents while maintaining a strong, expressive aesthetic identity.
